Serve a Meal

Every UMOM client deserves a meal that’s nutritious and tastes good.

Up to five volunteers can assist kitchen staff in serving meals and other duties. It’s a great activity for corporate groups, although all groups and individuals are welcome.

Where?
There are two locations for volunteer food service:
UMOM New Day Center’s main campus, located at 3333 East Van Buren Street and the Halle Women’s Center at 3424 E. Van Buren Street.

What time?
At the main campus:
Lunch is served Monday through Friday from noon. to 1:00 p.m.
Dinner is served seven days a week from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
Brunch is served on Saturday and Sunday from 11:00 a.m. until noon.

At the Halle Women’s Center:
Lunch is served Monday through Friday from noon to 1:00 p.m.
Dinner is from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
On Saturday and Sunday, Brunch is offered 11:00 a.m. to noon.

Who?
You must be 14 years or older to volunteer in the kitchen. You must also have or be willing to obtain an Arizona fingerprint card. If you’re interested in meal preparation in the kitchen, you must also have or be willing to obtain a Food Handler’s Card.

We ask that all groups and individuals sign up in advance [link]. It’s quick, easy and online!

You may also sponsor a meal at the Halle Women’s Center
This is a special opportunity to host a meal for women living at the Bruce and Diane Halle Foundation Women’s Center. You are welcome to sponsor weekday dinners and weekend brunch and dinners, which means groups may cook, deliver and serve the meal.

Or, for a donation of $200, UMOM’s kitchen staffers will prepare the meal and volunteers can serve. This modest gift feeds all 132 women housed at the Halle Center.
